Online CAPS Curriculum Subjects for Senior Phase - DHIS

Online CAPS Curriculum Structure:

The DreamHill online CAPS curriculum covers three phases: Foundation Phase (Grade R to Grade 3), Intermediate Phase (Grade 4 to Grade 6), and Senior Phase (Grade 7 to Grade 9).
Further, there are two additional phases: Further Education and Training (FET) Phase (Grade 10 to Grade 12) and the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Phase.

CAPS Curriculum Subjects:

The online CAPS curriculum includes a range of CAPS curriculum subjects, with a focus on foundational skills in languages (such as English and an additional official language), mathematics, and life skills during the Foundation Phase.
In the Intermediate Phase, CAPS curriculum subjects are broadened to include natural sciences, social sciences, technology, and economic and management sciences.
The Senior Phase introduces subjects like physical sciences, life sciences, geography, history, and economic and management sciences.

Assessment:

Continuous assessment is emphasized, with a move away from the more rigid examination-focused approach.
Assessment includes both formative and summative components, allowing for a holistic evaluation of a learner's progress.

Promotion and Certification:

Learners are expected to pass specific subjects to be promoted to the next grade.
The National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination at the end of Grade 12 is the culmination of the FET Phase and serves as the exit point for basic education, allowing students to pursue further education or enter the workforce.

Life Orientation:

A key aspect of the online CAPS curriculum is the inclusion of a subject called Life Orientation, which focuses on personal and social well-being, physical development, and preparation for the world of work.

Incorporation of Technology:

The CAPS curriculum encourages the integration of technology into teaching and learning to prepare students for the demands of the 21st century.
